first Christmas tree cutting

Nov. 3, 2011 | 0 comments

The 64th Alice in Dairyland, Katie Wirkus, will be in Grant County to host Wisconsin's first annual Christmas tree cutting event on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The tree cutting will be taking place at Cooks Woods in Fennimore. The festivities will begin around 9:45 a.m.

To kick off the morning Wirkus, and Dave Cook, Cooks Woods, will conduct a short educational seminar about the forestry industry in Wisconsin. The fourth grade students from Fennimore Elementary School will be in attendance. After the short seminar there will be a ride through the tree fields for all to witness the cutting of the first tree of the season.

The 65th Alice in Dairyland Finals will be held in Grant County, May 17-19, 2012. The finals will be held on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus in Ullsvik Hall. The finals will consist of tours throughout Grant County over the three-day finals program and a two-day briefing, which will take place March 22-23.
