Fire claims dairy barn, herd

in Pennsylvania

May 24, 2012 | 0 comments

A northwestern Pennsylvania dairy farmer has lost his barn and herd in an early morning fire.

Cambridge Springs Volunteer Fire Chief Dick Massung said that Sunday morning's (May 20) fire isn't considered suspicious although the cause remains under investigation.

The fire was reported about 3:10 a.m. Sunday at a farm owned by Jim Morton.

It wasn't immediately clear how many cattle died.

Nobody was hurt in the fire, but the two-story, 50-by-100-foot barn on his property in Rockdale Township was a complete loss. The barn was located about 95 miles north of Pittsburgh, in Crawford County.
