AWA Annual Banquet to be held on St. Patrick's Day

March 1, 2012 | 0 comments

The Association of Women in Agriculture (AWA) welcomes all alumni to AWA Day, held Saturday, March 17, at the Lowell Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

The evening banquet and awards program is held in conjunction with the Alpha Gamma Rho - Iota Chapter's Founders Day. Festivities begin with a 5 p.m. reception, followed by a 6 p.m. banquet and program.

The program will feature multiple student scholarships and several special awards, including Outstanding Senior, Outstanding AWA Alumni and Outstanding Woman in Agriculture. Anniversary classes from 2007, 2002, 1992, and 1982 will also be recognized.

A silent auction will take place during the event to raise funds for student scholarships. Auction donations are currently being accepted. To donate, contact Cady Dueber at dueber@wisc.edu or 651-792-5051.

In addition, a dessert auction will round out the meal, with funds raised supporting housing scholarships for students living in the AWA House.

New in 2012, several silent auction items will be available online. Watch AWA's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ AssociationofWomenin Agriculture) for the chance to bid on these silent auction items.

AWA Day details and online registration is available online at www.uwmadisonawa.org. Those interested in attending should pre-register by March 1. Cost is $30 per person, or $55 per couple.

For more information, contact AWA Student Alumni Coordinator Dana Karlen at dkarlen@wisc.edu or 608-214-8027, or Bill Hantke at behanke@att.net or 608-442-7294.

The AWA is a professional, service and social organization. Membership includes students, alumni and associate members with an interest in offering women personal and professional growth by fostering networking, developing life skills, building relationships, and advancing agriculture.
