Arson suspected in barn fire

Oct. 20, 2011 | 0 comments

Authorities suspect arson in a fire that destroyed a barn and the deck of the farm home near Barnesville in western Minnesota.

The deck fire was reported about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 12) at the home of Matt and Tara Andvik. Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist tells The Forum newspaper investigators were still on the scene about 6 a.m. when the barn ignited.

Matt Andvik says the barn and the deck are about 60 yards apart.

The sheriff says fire officials are confident both the fires were intentionally set.

Two grass fires also were recently reported at the Andvik residence. Authorities are looking to see if there is a link between the four fires.
