Koepp named Columbia County Interim UW Extension agriculture agent

Aug. 18, 2011 | 0 comments

George Koepp began working as the Columbia County Interim agriculture agent in the University of Wisconsin Extension office in Portage on Aug. 1. He is replacing Joe Bollman who left the position the end of March with Pioneer.

The current position is 80 percent and Koepp said he hopes the county makes it a full-time position and that he will be able to serve in that capacity.

Koepp grew up on a Caledonia Township farm and gained experience in raising dairy cows, hogs, beef, grain and forage crops. He currently resides in Caledonia Township with his wife Polly on 40 acres of the farm where he grew up.

As a high school agriculture educator and FFA Advisor in Baraboo for 26 years, he enjoyed many different agricultural experiences working with students, parents and community members. Koepp stated, "I plan to use all my previous learning opportunities to help the people of Columbia County with their agriculture questions. I look forward to working with friends of the past and developing new friendships and working relationships with Columbia County residents."
