WMMB elects leaders for FY15

MADISON

At its annual reorganization meeting in Madison, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) directors elected its leaders for the next fiscal year. This team will serve from July 2014 through June 30, 2015.

The WMMB Board of Directors is comprised of 25 dairy farmers who are elected by their peers for three-year terms. WMMB's directors set policies and procedures, supervise business affairs and approve annual budgets for the state's largest commodity promotion organization. Connie Seefeldt, District 2, Coleman, was reelected to serve as Board chair. This is her third year serving in this capacity. As Chair, Seefeldt will also represent WMMB at United Dairy Industry Association (UDIA) programs and meetings. The new vice-chair will be Dean Strauss, District 18, Sheboygan Falls.

Steve Sternweis, District 8, Marshfield, will continue as secretary and Jay Stauffacher, District 23, Darlington, will continue as treasurer for the Board having each received the majority (13) of votes in the first balloting.

Serving another year as the Communications Committee Chair is Lanette Harsdorf, District 13, Beldenville. Also serving on this committee are David Bangart, District 7, Greenwood; Mary Cook, District 15, Wilton; Rosalie Geiger, District 17, Reedsville; Ann Kieler, District 22, Platteville; Pat Kling, District 14, Taylor; Audrey Kusilek, District 4, Rice Lake; Becky Levzow, District 19, Rio; Dave Schmitz, District 16, Fond du Lac; Steve Sternweis, District 8, Marshfield; Jeff Strassburg, District 9, Wittenburg and Kevin Walleser, District 21, De Soto.

Ken Heiman, District 12, Marshfield, also won reelection as chair of the Channel Management Committee in an uncontested election. Other board members serving on this committee are Stacy Eberle, District 25, Monroe; Tina Hinchley, District 24, Cambridge; Sharon Laubscher, District 20, Wonewoc; Mark Leder, District 3, Gleason; Robert Letter, District 11, Seymour; John Pagel, District 10, Kewaunee; Ben Peterson, District 1, Grantsburg; Jay Stauffacher, District 23, Darlington; Dean Strauss, District 18, Sheyboygan Falls; Vivian Thompson, District 6, Cadott and Kay Zwald, District 5, Hammond.

The chair of the Audit Committee for fiscal year 15 is Jay Stauffacher, District 23, Darlington. Additional committee members are: David Bangart, District 7, Greenwood; Mary Cook, District 15, Wilton; Rosalie Geiger, District 17, Reedsville; Audrey Kusilek, District 4, Rice Lake; Sharon Laubscher, District 20, Wonewoc; Robert Letter, District 11, Seymour.

Jeff Strassburg, District 9, Wittenburg, was elected to lead the Policy/Bylaw Committee. Also serving on the Policy/Bylaw Committee are: Ann Kieler, District 22, Platteville; Mark Leder, District 3, Gleason; Dave Schmitz, District 16, Fond du Lac; Steve Sternweis, District 8, Marshfield; Vivian Thompson, District 6, Cadott; and Kay Zwald, District 5, Hammond.

WMMB also elects representation to a Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research (CDR) liaison committee. David Bangart, District 7, Greenwood, will head this committee. Ken Heiman, as chair of the Channel Management Committee will also serve on this committee as well as additional representation from the Channel Management and Communications Committees.
