BATTER FOR EVERYTHING

½ cup flour

¼ cup cornstarch

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

¾ cup cold water

1, Mix very well; you can easily double or triple the recipe.

Use for dipping fish, onion rings, chicken, etc. Drop in hot oil fry until golden brown.

PORK CHOPS AND APPLES

6 pork chops

3 to 4 unpeeled apples

¼ cup brown sugar

½ tsp cinnamon

2 tbsp butter

1. Slice apples. Mix with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Put in bottom of casserole dish. 

2. Brown pork chops, and place on top of apple mixture.

3. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake at 350 degrees for 90 minutes or till chops are done.

Serves 4 to 6.

BAKED HASH BROWN POTATOES

2 pounds frozen hash browns

½ cup melted butter (1 stick)

¼ tsp pepper

1 cup milk

2 cups grated cheese

½ cup chopped onion

1 tsp salt

½ pint sour cream

1 can cream of mushroom soup

Topping:

2 cups crushed corn flakes

¼ cup melted butter (½ stick)

1. Mix all but topping ingredients together. Put into a 9x13 baking pan.

2. Top with corn flakes mixed with melted butter.

3. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes or until potatoes are done.

Will serve up to 10, depending on what else you are serving.

VEGGIE DILL DIP

1 cup sour cream

1 cup mayonnaise

1 tbsp dried onions

1 tbsp dried parsley

1 tsp dried dill weed

1 tsp Bon Appetit or Beau Monde seasoning

1. Mix well.

2. Chill, covered, for at least 2 to 3 hours before serving.

ORANGE JELLO CAKE

1 yellow cake mix

4 eggs

2/3 cup water

1 pkg orange jello

2/3 cup oil

Icing:

2 cups powdered sugar

Juice of 1 orange, or just enough to make sugar creamy

Coconut (optional)

1. Mix cake ingredients (mix, eggs, water, jello, oil) together until smooth. 

2. Bake in greased and floured 9x13 pan at 350 degrees till done, about 25 minutes.

3. Mix sugar and juice to make icing.

4. While still hot, poke cake full of holes. Pour icing over cake, and sprinkle with coconut if desired. Cool.
