The Valmy Thresheree is fast approaching. This year's weekend events will run from Friday, Aug. 15, through Sunday, Aug. 17, at 5005 Country View Road in Sturgeon Bay and feature Case tractors and equipment.

Friday

Thresheree Gates will open at 6 pm with country music by "Mad Cats" playing from 7 to 11 p.m.

Satuday

The "Chainsaw Competition" runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The "Antique Tractor Pull" follows with 1955-year tractors and below. Pullers are welcome, and the weigh-in is from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Jerry Voelker will provide polka music for the afternoon "barn dance" from 2-5 p.m., followed by a Polka Mass at 5:30 p.m. celebrated with Rev. Tony Birdsall

"The Modern Day Drifters," Valmy's favorite country band, will be playing Saturday evening from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Sunday

On Sunday morning, a Lutheran service begins at 8:30 a.m. with Pastor Ben Enstad officiating.

At 10 a.m., the children will compete in a "Kids Pedal Tractor Pull". There will be a "Best Little Farmer Dress-Up" contest and many other games. All children are welcome to join in the fun.

Also at 10 a.m., "The Lena Area Garden Tractor Pullers Assn." begins. During their intermission at noon, the "Cavalcade of Power" parade of antique machines will be in front of the grandstands. At 12:45 p.m., the Lena Area Garden Tractor Pullers compete in the finals.

"The Bittorf Brothers" will perform music in the Pavilion from noon to 3 p.m. Then the famous "Mud Pig Wrestling" begins at 3:30 pm. Come see who wins — the pig or the contestant.

All weekend there will be antique machinery in operation and a variety of displays, including a new sawmill. Vendor exhibits and small engines are also favorites.

Food and refreshments will be served all weekend long.

Admission is $8 for the weekend, which includes a souvenir button, or $8 per day. Children under 12 are free.
