Manitowoc Dairy Promoters sponsoring recipe contest

April 9, 2014 | 0 comments

MANITOWOC

The Manitowoc County Dairy Promotion Committee is sponsoring a dairy recipe contest for appetizers and grilled cheese sandwiches. There are separate entry categories for restaurant cooks and families.

Appetizer recipes must contain a half cup each of any two dairy products. The grilled cheese recipe should be made to have a sweet flavor so it can be served as a dessert, requires that cheese make up at least 60 percent of the inside of the dish, and allows the use of any type of butter, bread, cheese, and additional ingredients.

From the entries, three in each category (a total of 12) will be selected for preparation and for evaluation by a panel of judges. Taste, originality, and creative use of dairy products will be the judging criteria.

Those 12 entrants will receive tickets for the Taste of Home Cooking School to be held in Manitowoc on Tuesday evening, May 13. Awards for the three placings in each of the categories will also be presented that evening.

Recipe entries are due by Monday, Apr. 14. They can be sent by e-mail to dairycookbook@gmail.com or mailed to Sherrie Pinkerton, Attn: Recipe Contest, 2315 Hickory Hills Road, Chilton, WI 53014.

More information is available by calling 920-772-4028 or by sending an e-mail to dairycookbook@gmail.com. The contest is open to everyone — not only residents of Manitowoc County.
