Outagamie County offering three FTD scholarships

Jan. 24, 2013 | 0 comments

Students enrolled or planning to enroll in post high school courses related to agriculture or natural resources are invited to apply for three scholarships that Outagamie County is offering in the wake of its sponsorship of Wisconsin's Farm Technology Days (FTD) in July of 2012.

The entry deadline for the scholarships of $2,000, $1,000, and $500 is Friday, March 1. Entry forms are to be submitted to the Wisconsin FTD office at 140 Agricultural Hall, 1450 Linden Dr., Madison, WI 53706.

Eligible applicants need to be a resident of Outagamie or an adjacent county (Brown, Calumet, Shawano, Waupaca, or Winnebago). They also need to show that they participated in one or more ways from 2009 through 2012 in the activities associated with Outagamie County's hosting of FTD.

School and community activities will also be considered when the applications are reviewed. Preference will be given to applicants with at least a 3.0 grade point average. A high school transcript must accompany the application.

Scholarship candidates must be planning to begin their first or second year of college in the fall of 2013.

The lineup of eligible courses includes all phases of agriculture (including ag journalism), horticulture, environmental sciences, biochemistry, the food industry, bacteriology, landscaping, genetics, and architecture.

To download the application form, go on the www.wifarmtechnologydays.com web site.
