Now that summer is coming, and coming fast, I hope you will take time to remember in some positive way all those who were harmed, killed or made homeless in all the recent storms in the USA. If we all do a bit to help, it will make things easier.

Salsa mix

1-1/2 cups dried cilantro

1 teaspoon garlic powder (more to taste)

1/ 2 cup dried chopped onion

1/ 4 cup dried red pepper flakes

1 tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon black pepper

Shake to combine. Use ¼ cup in fresh diced tomatoes season to taste.

Shake me & bake me

4 cups all-purpose flour

4 cups ground crackers

4 tablespoons salt

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

3 tablespoons paprika

1/4 cup vegetable oil

Mix all and store in an airtight container. Store in refrigerator.

When ready to use, dip meat in milk, oil or water. Roll in some of the mixture that has been placed on a paper plate.

Put meat on greased or foil-lined pan, and bake at 375°F till done.

Stir - fry seasoning mix

1/4 cup chicken bouillon

3 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons dried minced onion

2 tablespoons instant garlic, minced

2 teaspoons dried parsley

1/2 teaspoon Ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon crushed red peppers

Put mixture in air tight container.

To use: mix 1 tablespoon of the mix in 1/4 cup water. Then stir-fry 3 cups veggies; (Tomato, zucchini, summer squash, carrots cut fine, celery, broccoli, etc) add seasoning/water to veggies and bring the sauce to a boil to thicken.

Linda's note: Be sure the veggies are done to your taste before adding seasoning sauce and thickening the veggies.

For the chicken bouillon, if you have scads of bouillon cubes, like me, just crush them and use them. - This could also be make with beef cubes for a beef-flavored stir fry. Or, any bouillon cube flavor on the market.

Biscuit mix

5-½ cups sifted all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

3 tablespoons baking powder

1 cup shortening

Mix well, using a pastry blender. Store in large airtight container (or bag) in cool, dry place.

Linda's note: You can make as many of these of the recipe that you want. Or, make one at a time and store in individual bags.

To make regular drop biscuits, just add water and bake at regular temperature. Any fancy recipes for bisquick, jiffy mix, etc, can also use this easy-to-make mix.

Dew-a-lime summer drink

The fresh twist of lime mixed with the sweetness of a honeydew melon leaves you feeling refreshed.

2 quarts filtered water

3 cups honeydew (diced)

1 lime (sliced)

Mix in glass picture. Add ice if desired (also, you can cut the lime very fine and freeze in with the cubes if desired)

Serve in pretty glasses, and relax.

Apple berry lipsmacker

There's nothing odd or different about mixing apples and berries until you taste just a hint of them in your water. An amazing way to refresh your body with just enough flavor to keep your water from being boring.

2 quarts filtered water

3/4 cup blueberries

1 apple (sliced)

You may mix together and serve in a glass picture with ice. You could also puree the apples and blueberries, and make it more of a smoothie; it is up to you.
