Lady milk haulers invited to

Lake to Lake get together

July 12, 2012 | 0 comments

A special invitation has been issued to all of the lady milk haulers (can or bulk) to attend the 2012 annual Lake to Lake dairy cooperative haulers get together being held at the Richard Schwartz residence, 13232 Point Creek Road, on the afternoon of Sunday, July 29.

Lake to Lake, which is a division of Land O'Lakes Dairy Foods today, owned plants at Kiel and Denmark that make cheese today. The Kiel plant also processes whey.

"It's the year to celebrate the lady milk haulers. Let's see how many were behind the steering wheel in the hey day," Schwartz says of the extra effort to have the former and current women haulers come to the event this year.

Schwartz, who also has a long tenure as a milk hauler, is continuing to look for photos of can and bulk milk trucks that he intends to include in a scrapbook about Lake to Lake. The cooperative was formed in the 1940s, based in Manitowoc and surrounding counties.

Retired and active haulers who plan to attend this year's event are asked to reserve by calling 920-693-8686 no later than Monday, July 23.

Attendees will have a chance to see the array of dairy organization and farm signs and other related memorabilia that Schwartz has already collected.
