Grain marketing conference scheduled on Feb. 26-27

A grain marketing conference, sponsored by First Capitol Ag of Platteville, is scheduled at the Hotel Julien here on Sunday and Monday, Feb. 26-27.

The conference starts with a three-hour Sunday afternoon session on how to understand commodity market options and make them work.

The day concludes with a reception and dinner at the historic Star Brewery.

Scheduled speakers and their topics on Monday morning are Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group senior economist Fred Seamon on market integrity and Badger State Ethanol president Gary Kramer on the ethanol market in the wake of the termination of the blender's credit.

Also on the morning agenda is Penson Futures director of managed futures Jason Turnipseed on the diversification of investments with professional management.

The afternoon agenda includes a world economic analysis and outlook by First Capitol Ag risk management advisor Jacob Burks, advanced marketing strategies by First Capitol Ag specialists and the management of opportunities and risks in 2012 by Mike North of First Capitol Ag.

A wrap-up presentation will be given by Pro Farmer newsletter editor and publisher Chip Flory.
