Trees For Tomorrow is accepting orders for six types of tree seedlings, which will be available for planting in middle to late spring.
Paper birch — a popular native landscaping tree with chalky white, peeling bark — joins the list of available seedlings for the first time. Others include blue spruce, red (Norway) pine, tamarack, white pine and a white spruce hybrid.
Tree seedlings are an integral part of Trees For Tomorrow's history. When it started 70 years ago, the organization planted trees to help improve the future of northern Wisconsin forests. The private, nonprofit, natural resources specialty school continues to encourage tree planting through its annual seedling sale.
Cost is $1.25 per seedling. Proceeds from the sale will help support education efforts at the school.
Seedlings are containerized and have established root systems. Orders can be shipped for an additional fee, or those ordering will be notified when they can be picked up at Trees For Tomorrow.
