Badger Dairy Club to host 16th Badger Invitational Sale

Jan. 31, 2013 | 0 comments

Badger Dairy Club will be hosting the 16th Badger Invitational Sale on Saturday, March 9, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Stock Pavilion in Madison.

There will be roughly 70 head of deep-pedigreed, high-type and high-genomic Holstein heifers and choices for sale with the help of UW-Madison alumni as ringmen, leadsmen and auction leaders.

Along with being a quality cattle sale for the public, the Badger Invitational creates a learning opportunity for Badger Dairy Club members and sale chairs that are in charge of running every aspect of the cattle sale.

Throughout the months of planning, as well as during the day of the sale, members have ample opportunities to network with industry professionals and producers, allowing students to better prepare themselves for their future careers.

This year the sale is being held in conjunction with the grand opening of the newly renovated Dairy Cattle Center on campus.

An open house will run from 9-11:30 a.m. with a brief program at 11:30 a.m. There will also be pre-viewing of the cattle prior to the sale, which will begin at noon sharp with a celebration upon conclusion of the sale at Brickhouse BBQ.

A copy of the online sale catalog will be available on the Badger Dairy Club website. For a hard copy, contact catalog chair Breinne Hendrickson at 608-444-7340.

Sale chairs for the 16th Badger Invitational include General Chair Jacob Brey; Selections: Hayden Hauschildt, Austen Schmidt, Nicholas Schuster, Cara Biely, Mitch Kappelman; Cattle Care: Laura Finley, Ryan O'Leary, Carrie Warmka; Advertising: Lauren Holterman; Catalog and Semen Donations: Breinne Hendrickson; Donations and Special Events: Christine McFarland and Kaitlyn Riley.

For more information contact Jacob Brey at 920-495-9012 or jbrey@wisc.edu.
