April 1 is scholarship deadline for UW-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course
April 1 is the deadline to apply for scholarships to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course.
That includes scholarships targeted to the Wisconsin School for Beginning Dairy and Livestock Farmers, an FISC program in which students participate in seminars and other learning activities focused on the management of grazing-based dairy or livestock farms. WSBDF students are mentored by experienced graziers, business leaders and UW-Madison experts, and many of them get internships on Wisconsin dairy and livestock farms.
Among more than 80 short course scholarships available are a number endowed specifically for WSBDF students. Most offer tuition assistance, but some help cover costs involved with internships.
For those not seeking a scholarship, registrations for all short course programs, including WSBDF, will be accepted until Oct. 1.
To get a list of WSBDF scholarships and other information about the school, visit www.cias.wisc.edu/dairysch.html, call 608-265-6437 or write to Wisconsin School for Beginning Dairy & Livestock Farmers, 1535 Observatory Dr., Madison, WI 53706.
